Description

Realistic Pokémon - Blastoise

Appearance

Blastoise are the adult forms of Squirtle, a starting Pokemon to trainers living in the Kanto region. Adult male Blastoise are over 6’9” in height and can weigh over a ton. Females can reach heights of between 5’8” and 6’7” and can weigh between 60 and 95 stone.

At first glance a Blastoise appears to be an overgrown Snapping Turtle and there are in fact many similarities between the two. The main similarity is that they use the worm-like lure on the end of their tongues to catch food. Second is that they are heavily armoured with a large spiny shell and have overlapping wrinkly skin folds as well as large spur scales around the legs and arms. This is where the similarities end.

Blastoise have developed a remarkable form of self defence in the form of large calcium towers on their backs. These towers are made from bone and resemble tube coral that is commonly seen in reefs around Kanto. Not only do these reef-like structures on their backs act as amazing camouflage but they are also a formidable weapon and are able to shoot out water with the same speed and power as that of a riot control water cannon.

Temperament

If trained correctly Blastoise can be amazing companions to travel with as they can develop strong bonds with their trainers. However, poorly trained Blastoise are extremely dangerous and have been known to kill their trainers and other friendly pokemon in its team. For this reason it is illegal for a starting trainer to be given a fully grown Blastoise to train. In the wild these creatures are ill tempered and rowdy with the males being much more aggressive than the more placid females.
